Griffith Park, October 20, 2019
Our Fall Social Event had Philologians explore the natural beauty of Los Angeles by exploring Griffith Park. After a quick 20 minute Metro ride, we took the park’s shuttle to the Griffith Observatory, and got some good shots of the Hollywood Sign. We went into the Berlin Forest for a nice picnic with a wonderful view of Santa Monica, the Hollywood Sign, and the trees! We then began our great trek, and hiked up the easy road to the top of the mountain and overlooked all of Los Angeles, and then took a more challenging path down, one which ensured everyone got some good exercise!
"An unforgettable adventure...to be done again! " - Richard P.
"The hike provided wonderful views of Los Angeles!" - Benjamin T.
"I wish we stayed there longer" - Ava Z.
"This was a wonderful experience!" - Richard L.
You may have noticed that there is no information about any social events in the spring of 2020, that is due to the coronavirus epidemic, which forced our club to cancel events for the semester. As soon as the State of California determines it is safe to resume normal life, we will resume operations. Until then, stay safe!
Don't worry! Starting in Fall of 2020, we will be having social events once a month (coronavirus permitting, of course)! Stay tuned for future updates on upcoming social events!
Q: Do I need to bring money?
A: Yes. For most events we will be using the Metro, which requires a few dollars round trip. Specific costs will be detailed on each Social Event announcement, but it's generally a good idea to bring at least $20, because at many events we will have a lunch break, in which case you should either bring or buy food.
Q: Do I need to bring any other supplies?
A: Unless stated otherwise in the description for the event, no, you don't need to bring anything else.
Q: Where do we meet for social events?
A: We meet outside the front (East) entrance of the Taper Hall of Humanities, on Trousdale Parkway, in USC.
Q: What if I want to come to the event, but because of time constraints, I have to arrive late, leave early, or cannot travel with the group?
A: As long as you email us to let us know, then there is no problem with this.
Q: Can I bring any non-Philologos friends to social events?
A: Of course, as long as you email us before the event and tell us their name(s).
If you have any other questions, just email us!
