About Us

The Philologos Society at the University of Southern California saw the light of day in July 2019. Its unique founder, then-rising sophomore Richard B. Petrosyan (‘22), established the Society in partnership with the USC American Language Institute. Richard's classical and humanist, European education drove him to create an organization of like-minded people who perceived the pursuit of wisdom, including a shared love of knowledge, liberal arts, and lively debates, as central contributors to their intellectual and personal growth. Upon his establishment of the bases and launching the Society's exponential growth, Richard and his team of driven students delved into this building adventure and worked tirelessly to expand to a wide array of programs that the Society is pleased to offer today to its community.

The society started out with only a few members, and has now grown to 62 proud Philologians.
